Hi,
I've just bought a new car which has a build in media centre screen. This allows me to project my phone onto the car screen for media and satnav use and very quickly learnt that my P9 isn't compatible other than basic blue tooth connection.
I downloaded the android auto app and found it plays on my phone but still doesn't allow it to work on my car.
I can honestly say this is be best phone I've ever had but really want it to work. Now I am due an upgrade next month and would only change if it was for the P20 pro.
So to my question, will any of these phones ever have compatibility like other leading brands as it's really a downfall to Huawei and is it worth upgrading to the p20 if it means that will eventually be updated to work with the system??

Filling in here with another Huawei device (P30 Pro) that doesent work with Android Auto. App freezes after 5sec to 10min, the car screen stop responding to AA comands and the sound stops (Google music, Spotify, Tunein etc) Tried numerous of things diffrent cables usb 2.0, 3.0, cable with extra power-feed, 10cm-1,5meters, nothing helps.

Tried AA-version from 4.3.5918 to the latest 4.7.5938, no difference.

Tried killing numerous of apps to see if Theres a conflict, but nothing helps.

Usual tricks within developer menu (usb behavior etc)

"power mode" in battery settings, manual battery settings for critical apps

The strange things is that AA works perfectly as long as its running, it just stops.

To get it working again, even if its just for 5sec, i have to pull the cable out/in and AA starts to work again. (for a short period)

I've noticed one things, but i dont know why that is and I cant replicate it by will, but sometimes (randomly, rare) after yanking cable out/in, AA starts again but the sound doesent get sent to the car, (i guess its via Bluetooth even with AA?) the sound plays from phone speaker AND WHEN THAT HAPPENS, AA does NOT freeze 🤔 It can be up for hours and work on the car screen as long as sound comes from phone speaker.

Sooo.. I guess that it has something to do with multiple outputs, (screen/control via cable/ audio via Bluetooth) and something in the Huawei android/emui software Does not like that. My 5cents thow..

My old phone, Nokia 8 @ android 9 PIE works perfect, i even tried my whifes Samsung A3 as well as another old HTC, all phones work but not my brand new premium P30 PRO😟

The car is an Opel/Vauxhall/GM Insignia 2018 with Intellilink 900-system.

The real question is:

DOES HUAWEI INVESTIGATE THE AA-PROBLEM OR ARE WE AA-USERS ADVISED TO GET DIFFERENT BRAND? Are there ANY activity to solve this from Huawei.

A life sign would be nice and perhaps something what they have come up with so far, so that i and other users that are a little into tech can test and try for ourselfs..

Hi everyone, and MAX, i am experiencing the same android auto issues, I have a P20 pro, easily the best phone i've owned to date.
Yippee i have just received Emui 9.1 update, it appears to have made no difference. The phone connects easily via bluetooth for calls and texts but still unable to find any apps, so frustrating.
My car is a Ford Ecosport with a lovely infotainment screen for radio, music sat nav etc. works well but connecting by USB makes no difference.
Q. Is it Huawei (Emui) that's incompatible or are all android phones the same.
You spend a few hundred pounds on a phone - thousands on a car and they're not compatible.
As other owners have suggested they will consider getting a replacement phone that works.
I'm told Apple IOS works brilliantly

One of its most useful is Android Auto that allows users to mirror some of their phone's functionality onto a car's entertainment head unit for easy accessibility.

Apparently not if you've a Huawei phone, i thought it was me, but looking at all these comments 😢

Hi all,

Sorry for the lack of response in this thread.

Please reach out to our official support channels if the above suggestions and tips in our Android Auto F.A.Q. did not solve your issues and you still need help https://consumer.huawei.com/uk/support/.
Hi,
My phone is Honor 8 Pro with EMUI 9.0.1.171. My car stereo is Pioneer AVH-A219BT. Before the latest security update, I was able to connect my phone through usb cable for mirror link. But (most likely after the latest security update), now I am not able to connect the same phone to the same system. It shows "connecting" and the screen keeps showing that. I had already enabled USB debugging option.

I have checked with other phone (Mogo g) and found that it works on the same system.

It appears that some of the setting has been changed because of the latest update.
Just bought a new Hyundai & guess what?? it doesn't connect to the Andronough Auto, was bad enough in the IX35 & Touson, The Huawei is a great phone but useless in the car, will probably have to dump the phone and go back to Samsung
It's obvious that there is no real testing done before they release phone as I've never had so many "updates" on a new phone, they should concentrate on getting the phones to work properly instead of selling "Good Cameras"
I’ve just ordered a new car today. Nissan Qashqai connecta model and am quite annoyed by what I have read above.

Is there anyone who has managed to get their phone to work properly with android auto. I have a P20 pro and absolutely love the phone but am a bit peeved to discover that i might not be able to use android auto due to compatibility issues.

For the price of the phone and the fact that i have it on contract with over 18 months to run, its very disappointing to say the least.

Can someone from Huawei give me an update as to whether or not it is compatible. I’m from the UK if that makes any difference,

Looking forward to your reply.
So fed up with Huawei thought I'd give them one more chance to sort car connectivity out and go for the p30 pro,
Guess what it doesn't support mirror link omg ????
Im selling p20pro and getting a Samsung s10.
Huawei you've lost me
There is no Android Auto connection between my Huawei (EMUI 9.0.0.214(C10E10R1P17)) using USB cabel!
I drive Merc GLC 2018.
I am highly disapointed. With previous Samsung S6 all was fine.
Dmitry
Hello there,

I would like to inform you that the latest EMUI update (9.0.0.171) should be fixing the issues with most of the apps on the devices.

The update has been released officially and it would be made available on the most devices over the course of this month.

Please wait and the phone will notify you when the update will be made available. Hope this helps.

Best wishes,
Max

Was a annoyed to find my discussion had been put to the bottom of the pile of others.

Look can we get some proper support and software updates ASAP so that us owners can get Android Auto working with our vehicles.

I like many other people spent a lot of money purchasing a top end Huawei phone. We all took the plunge on your company and many of us are feeling very let down by your minimal or non existant support.

your post hasn't been moved to ignore you, it's to see if theres something someone else has tried in this thread might fix your problem, and so that when the solution is found everyone gets the answer. Unfortunately I don't have a car with android auto myself so can't even begin to help even though I'd like to, hey Huawei fancy sending me a new car so I can troubleshoot? 😁

Okay Android Auto is not connecting to my car:

The facts.

I have a new Audi A4 that has android auto compatibility. It worked before with my previous phone a Samsung S8. So the car is not the issue.

Next the phone has the latest software update, the latest Android auto app version.

I enabled developer tools and USB debugging.

When the phone is connected via a high quality USB lead I get the message asking me whether I want to charge or transfer etc. Very annoying to have to acknowledge this each time. Other phone companies avoid this so why can't Huawei stop this nonsense?

So the car doesn't start Android Auto.

My question is when are Huawei going to sort this out? Like the phone and supporting your company when others are trying to ban the company.

So can we have some genuine support and progress on this problem?
Hi Kat and Amy, I have still not received response from Huawei on my Nova3e (P20 Lite) phone issue with Android Auto. Everything else works properly but phone dialling does not work. I have updated to 8.0.0.162 but still same problem. Please advise.

I'm having a similar issue. Received new p20 Pro last week didn't work went plugged into 66 vauxhall corsa using original cable).
Downloaded android auto and added permissions etc.
Once plugged in the phone restarts many times then comes up with a warning advising to reset to factory settings. Once unplugged it resrats in safe mode.

Took the phone back and got a replacement but having the exact same issue. Used a family members p20 Pro and had no issues in the car so thinking that rules out the car being at fault.
Also phone won't connect over Bluetooth, car can't find phone and vice versa.

Can anyone advise how to solve the problem.

Hi @Kat please can you look at my issue above and advise?

Hey

Just checked the Android Auto pages and found this: https://www.android.com/auto/ford/
It looks it's not compatible with Ford Figo:(

Let me know if your case is related to Android Auto in particular.

Kat
Hi @Viking_beard

My car does not have the touch screen or mirror screen. It is just a normal Bluetooth standard system.
It connects but disconnects after 30 seconds and then it says trying to reconnect on my car stereo
I also have the mate 20 pro. I can pair with my head unit on my Peugeot 108.
It connects to the phone via Bluetooth & imports the contacts and messages. But for some reason the audio only pairs as a removable device, meaning that although it get sound, there is no song or artist info or album art displayed in the screen.
Pluging in using the supplied cable has no effect at all.

Im guessing that the reason so many people are having issues is that there is no mirrorlink software built in to Huawei phones, so all that happens when you plug in to the car with a USB cable is charging.

You don't really need a car with Android Auto, most touchscreen Car head units connect via the mirrorlink protocol, your car has it, but your phone doesn't.
See here https://mirrorlink.com

Unless Huawei plan to release an update with mirrorlink included then nothing is going to change.
Hi @Kat please can you look at my issue above and advise?

@MrSlaymaker Our testing team is working on reproducing this issue and testing it on various devices.

Thanks for sharing a very detailed feedback as it's very important for us to understand what car, phone model and software version you use.
