Huawei ban effect on Canadians!!

I'm getting a new phone on Friday, narrowed between s10+ and the p30 pro, leaning toward the p30 pro because of better battery life, and especially the faster charging times. However the more I read I go the US-huawei ban, the more I question that. Will I be able to use google apps, YouTube, maps, etc, and will they continue to see updates? Any Canadian with a huawei able to chime in?

@tomriddlepotter thanks for asking your question on the community. Not sure if we have many Canadians, but here's the official Huawei Answers, so hopefully you can make an informed decision.

Hi @tomriddlepotter,

Welcome to the community!

You should be OK if you decide to go with the Huawei P30 Pro.
I have recently purchased the same phone; it is great and you won't regret your decision.
We are currently continuing to receive security and Google updates on the EMUI. Huawei are endeavouring to take care of their customers, and are exploring all options.

China and the US are having more trade talks at the end of the month, so hopefully a resolution will be found for the benefit of all Huawei customers. Huawei are innovative, and I am sure they have contingency plans.

Agreed, I've no regrets buying a P30 Pro, we'll be getting Android 10 soon and various other updates and improvements.

It's the Mate 30 series that has issues as it's not certified by Google, so can't use any of their apps.

Personally I expect this whole thing to blow over and normal service will be restored, I also think that will allow Huawei to get the Mate 30 certified too
