Hi @Danjl , the op was specifically asking about the p20 pro variant of phone and as both mate and p-series phones are on a different update schedule is there any point having them in the same thread? Might just cause confusion

Any ideas how to join emui 9.1 beta?
Has been announced online today that Mate 20 series can download and update but I've updated the Beta app and checked for projects and nothing is available.
Forced a system update check and also nothing.

I think it is just the China variant getting it right now.

We unfortunately don't get any of that info here on the forum, but rest assured when there is updates someone on here will be one of the first to post about it. Just need to keep an eye out @Pepephone

I've moved your post here so we have a single thread on the Emui 9.1 updates.

Looks like this list has now been added for beta testing:

EMUI 9.1 will roll out to 49 older Huawei and Honor devices

EMUI 9.1 is the latest update to Huawei’s OS based on Android Pie. While Huawei has not disclosed a clear changelog between EMUI 9.1 and EMUI 9, the new update brings features like improvements to the GPU Turbo mode, incoming call videos for contacts, optimizations for HiVoice, triggering voice assistants through a long press on the power button, improvements to PC continuity and more changes varying on a per device model.

Devices already running on EMUI 9.1:
  • Huawei Mate 20
  • Huawei Mate 20 Pro
  • Huawei Mate 20 X
  • Huawei Mate 20 RS Porsche Design
Devices currently testing EMUI 9.1 update:

I've been on the beta app and still not showing available? so, 1 would presume that again, it's for Chinese models only?
A shame really because some of the new features for the higher end flagship devices sound very appealing.

Quick question...?
Is there anyway you could force the Chinese version to install? Surly apart from the default language being Chinese, there isn't much difference between version?

I've been checking every way possible but still no sign for the European version of Mate 20 Pro (LYA-L29)

Ways: beta App / care App and software updates.

I am one of those people who love to get latest things and provide feedback that shapes future development. Can I sign up anywhere to do that????

Hi all.

@Amy maybe you could put a sticky up for people to when they recive the 9.1 update. They'll need to state their location and phone model as well. Could be quite useful

Ditch Android. Its a mess anyway. Let us know. When your in house os is ready for testing. It rims Android apps natively. Only thing not sure of is how the apps will be found or updated.
@Amy is love to be on this. I think others would too

I only received an update to 9.0.0.255 yesterday on my P20 Pro, Derry, N.Ireland

My Phone is a P20 Pro and I received a security patch update for Google yesterday.

When I saw the update I thought great emui 9.1 but it wasn't! I spoke to Huawei 2 weeks ago and they said they are rolling out updates in order of when phone was purchased.

I purchased my phone in Dec 2018 and I can't beleive it should take nearly 6 months and no update. It seems unfair that I paid nearly £700 for what was one of the high end phones and Huawei still haven't provided this improved update. I guess things are up in the air at present with Trump's political tactics ! 😠

I hope he looses his precidency. I don't trust him or like him and think he is a liability to everyone. He has not only damaged Huawei s reputation but could cause Huawei users to possibly have expensive phones rendered useless as a result.!

Nothing for p20 pro I'm still stuck on emui 9.0
Same nothing for p20 pro. That update is for mate 20 pro and lower models. Having spoken to Huawei. They said they are updating phones according to purchase dates. I've had my phone 6 months. Apple update their phones at least once a month. I converted to Android amidst the hype of them being better phones however the support isn't there. I feel completely let down. My colleague at work with a P20 pro has the 9.1 update WTF!

Thanks a lot @Danjl
I'm using a P20 Pro which I bought in the UK the very day they were released.
I'm still on 9.0.0
My son has a P30 lite and has had 2 updates in 2 days.

For a high end phone and company, it's not very good for updates.

The updates can't be getting sent out in order of manufacturing or purchase date as I would have been one of the first to receive the update.

Come on Huawei, pull your fingers out it you're going to start losing customers.
Whatever tech I buy, a lot of others who I work with will then go and buy the same products. If I swap to Samsung, so will they.

Hi @Guyver13 the order of updates sent out is not chronological, which means some users get updates before others. There's a thread which explains this further. If you have any questions about updates, the helpdesk should be able to help you.

https://uk.community.huawei.com/software-40/waiting-on-a-software-update-phone-the-hotline-1034
Just spoken to the help desk.
Chose options 2 then 3.
Was told I went through to the wrong section and to dial again, but this time chose options 2 then 3??

That's what I did first time.

Next guy I spoke to was adamant that the UK does NOT have any updates for the P20 Pro.
I explained that I know people in the UK who DO have a newer version and that THIS forum has people in the UK with the latest updates.

He eventually did check and seemed surprised that there was an update due and that I should already have had it.

Anyway, the guy took my phone details and has sent a request to find out where my update is.
