Watch GT Update 1.0.5.22 failed


Hi guys.

Since last week my watch is trying to update from 1.0.3.88 to 1.0.5.22, but the update fails.

All process runs well, the download on my P20 Pro, transfer to watch, watch reboot, everything looks fine, but when I check, the watch is still with the older version and the update is indicated on Huawei Health to be done.

Sometimes the watch tries automatically, and so, the process runs and nothing happens again.

I have no error message, nothing.

Can anybody help me?

Hi all,

Thank you for bringing this up! This inquiry is a software issue with the device. To sort this out, first of all, please clear the cache of the application from the phone by going to Settings > Apps and notifications.

Then, from the watch, please swipe down to Settings, then please select "Unpair and reset". After doing this, please pair the watch again with the device and perform the update.

Thanks for your help, @Max , but didn't work.

I cleared the cache and reset the watch (losing all data), and run the update process, but the version in watch still 1.0.3.88.

So, what can I do?

Sorry to hear about the situation of your device, and thank you for the feedback after you have attempted the suggested troubleshooting.

In this case I would recommend having the device inspected by one of our engineers at the service center for a more hands-on approach.

I have now owned 2 of these Huawei GT 2018 watches GT 493 model FTN-B19 version 1.05.22. Neither would finish a firmware update, other then that I think the watch is running fine. I have reset the watch, uninstalled the Health app, cleared the data and cache in the app, I moved the watch and my phone that it is paired with to another room with less RF. The update downloads just fine to the phone and starts the update to the watch but soon fails, sometimes stating lose of Bluetooth connection, I have the watch and phone within 6-8 inches of each other have tried assorted placement configuration. My phone thru Bluetooth can receive and send large files all day with my desktop without any errors. So that states that my phones Bluetooth is functioning properly.
I have spoke with the CSR's in Mexico 3 times, hard to understand and I have emailed Huawei 3 times, no help yet, I would like to keep this watch but if will not update it is going back.
Plus, why not let the customer decide if he wants to us an app, some may just want to monitor their Pulse, Altitude, etc. the time could be set manually. But this watch stops on Boot with a barcode and when I installed the recommended barcode reader it scanned the barcode and wanted to install a KROGER app. so I went to Google Play and found the correct app to install as verified by Mexico support. I am past this but would like to have the latest firmware release Version 1.0.6.8. 8.21MB ( I have attempted the update more then a dozen times with failure everytime.)
Has anyone else had this problem updating the firmware on the HUAWEI WATCH GT 2018 ?

If you are having this issue, can you try to book in your device for repair as well? That sounds like a fault in the watch's internal build.

In the end, I received a new watch. The old one had a real problem with no solution.
